leprechaun bingo
I don’t know if you know this about me, but I live in Savannah. And I don’t know if you know this about Savannah, but it hosts the second largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the country. I’ve been told that, every year, residents and tourists gather to commemorate this parade with drinking, drinking and more drinking. (I’ve heard there are some floats and horses, too).
The Mr and I have decided to spend St. Patrick’s Day downtown, watching the parade and–more importantly–watching the people.
Because I am more competitive than I should be and because I happened to have a lot of time on my hands, I decided that the Mr and I should make a game of our people watching.
So tomorrow, we will be playing a game I’ve decided to call “Leprechaun Bingo”. We will keep track of our people sightings on the card below. I tried to think of some of the best things I have seen in years past on St. Patrick’s Day as well as somethings I’d like to see tomorrow.
I’ll let you know who wins.
Feel free to join us. (The drawing above has actually been reduced in size to fit the frame of this post, but if you save it to your desktop, you should get an image the size of an 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper.)

This is quite awesome. My husband has been to this celebration before and I wish we could go this year. However St. Patricks unfortunately decided to fall on a weekday this year. I would play your bingo card here, but living in the middle of nowhere, unless we decided to do what is here depicted, I’m afraid neither of us would claim bingo for quite some time.
I’d like to follow up to tell you that I showed my husband your bingo card and he is completely jealous you will be there playing such a fun game and we will be going out, for Italian food no less, with his parents tonight. Thus, please spot people urinating in public for my benefit.
I think you and your husband should have been there today. It was ridic.ulous.
Where have you and your bingo card been for the past six years?
My husband’s family is 100% off the boat, brogue-wielding Irish. And every year, they attend, march in or even marshall a circuit of various St. Patrick’s Day parades in the greater NYC area. If only I had your bingo card to distract me in years past from the sight of our family members marching.
Like I said, I don’t think it is going to be hard to pull a “hat trick” you can totes find a green beer drinking, crying drunk girl, with green hair, falling down, starting a fight, dressed as a slutty leprechaun, while her sober judge-y BFF looks down at her…..
I am very excited to be a spectator in this sport. I can’t really play, seeing as how I’m a middle school librarian. I mean, it gets crazy over here sometimes, but not this crazy.
What a fantastic idea. Good news: I will for sure be playing. Bad news: I will be playing from home. Worst news: It won’t take long to score a bingo.
I particularly like Woman who uses holiday as an excuse to wear nothing. Fun!
I’m pretty sure that in past St Patty’s days my personal behavior would have blacked out most of this card.
Damn I miss those days.
See what motherhood does to you? DON’T DO IT! Live for The St Pats day! And Mardi Gras, and Drunk Thursdays
There absolutely must be a FULL report on the days events and the crossed off bingo charts. I’m excited to hear about the Sad Drunk Girl that you will surely see. And I’m also curious if the “Woman who uses the holidays as an excuse to wear nothing” will also come with an “Erin Go Bra-less” button.
Please take pictures. Lots of pictures.
Ooooh. I’ve been to Savannah for the St. Patrick’s Day revelry. My Bingo square would have read: drunk girl who waits for people to accidentally drop beads and feather boas on the ground whereupon she immediately swoops in for the steal. My friends thought I was doing some pretty hard core flashing to score all that loot, but I was merely crawling on the disgusting street to pick up cast offs. Dignity saved!
P.S. You will see every square on your card in the first 30 minutes. Have fun!
Thats hilarious, love the little illustrations, what a nice touch.
